Just a short question-how does one balance the zeal he has for the church with appearing “sane?” I realize that zeal is sane, but for the people out there who feel that spirituality and prayer is unnatural, how do people following vocations respond to negative or luke-warm support?

With 1st Peter 3:13: Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is right?
14: But even if you do suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,
15: but in your hearts reverence Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence;
16: and keep your conscience clear, so that, when you are abused, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
17: For it is better to suffer for doing right, if that should be God’s will, than for doing wrong.

I think it’s important to be well-rounded. Have other interests and let people know that you have other interests. That way, you seem like the normal person that you are, who also has a zeal for the Lord.

If people give you luke-warm or negative support in your vocation, you need to be strong, distance yourself from them if possible, and find support elsewhere.

I find that it is easy to speak to most people through mentioning love and relating later and through the conversation not frequently, that Jesus is love and that nothing lives without love. So nothing can live without Jesus.

I also use a circle and ask where the begining in it is. I then tell the person(s) that love is like that circle it has NO begining and it has no end.
I then mention that the only act Jesus ever did is to in many forms “Love every person he met”, for Jesus is love.
