What home projects do you have lined up for Spring,if that’s what it is in your part of the world? I’d love to hear about them.
It’s Autumn here, for me it’s still a time to get enthusiastic about painting walls, making simple repairs and generally clean up after the heat ,dust and cobwebs.
Hopefully I will work with my neighbour to cut and split open firewood as the nights will be cooling.
(Post script ,hearing about your plans will give me a much needed boost !😃 )

Cleaning up the yard after winter. I have branches to burn off, spread some mulch and compost, and prepare to plant some veggies and flowers. I have already started the seeds for tomatoes indoors.

We already got a jump on spring cleaning in the house, but there I have some painting to do inside and out. I have to hire someone to prune the huge Sycamore trees I have.

I have a couple of solar powered bug zappers I will be putting out too, and a nice, but small, solar powered fountain/birdbath too.

I am going to do some fun stuff like heading over to St. Louis and catching a baseball game. My nephew and his wife will visit sometime this spring too. That should be fun.

Everything (including weeds) seem to grow so quickly in lots of places in the US! The growth can be incredible 🙂

Most rooms in my house need a fresh coat of paint and we’re pulling out the old air conditioner (we have central air now) to put a stained glass window in its place. Outside there are weeds that need to be pulled, and after the last frost we’ll plant new flowers.

And I have a lot of things I don’t need or use to go through and dispose of. I think the paper shredder is going to be my new best friend

Don’t you just love changing things around and the painting going on ?😃
Sometimes I’ll get an electrician to fix or add something,or another handyman to work on flooring and the
spin off lasts me some weeks…tidying before they come and doing long put off maintenance. One chore leading to another.
Especially if there’s someone else around and progress in being made.

On a different note,a shredder is something I’ve never used,I know identity theft is a problem over there and is probably a growing one here though.

The roof to the arbor fell in, under the weight of snow, so I need to fix that. Set up composts, both for the kitchen and for garden recyclebles. And I’m still considering beekeeping, so researching that while planting more insect-friendly plants and putting up bird houses.

Edit: I forgot about building a large indoor pen for our two tortoise youngsters. They have an outdoor pen that they love to dig in, but need something larger indoors for when the garden is too cold.

Yes! I find it hard to start cleaning but once I do I’m so happy! Especially when I have the windows open so fresh air blows in as I’m going room to room.

Honestly I think people are more likely to steal my identity from the Internet than by digging through my trash, but it’s easy enough to shred things just to be safe. I save the shredding for last. I can relax from cleaning with a movie, and while I’m watching it I have my pile of papers next to me and mindlessly put them through the shredder.

My wife is into shredding paper, and I mean everything that can be shred will be shred. As for me I don’t see the need to shred things like junk mail, but hey what ever floats your boat. 🤣

Weeds do grow fast for sure, and If I do not keep up with weeding my garden will turn into a weed farm. 🤣

One of my brothers took up bee keeping. He sells the honey, but mostly he loves to do it.

First project is getting through my surgery and the recovery period.
Second project is prepping and growing this year’s garden.

Getting ready for our baby, due in June! 😍

Other than that, I have a couple art projects to do in the next couple months, one for my husband and I and one for our unborn son. I also want to try to master the art of making a French macaron…my husband is a baker and his interest in baking is rubbing off on me! 😜

Yes, that would would be formost in your mind dear Lily ,not too long now?
I hope you’ll be out in your garden in no time recovering in the warm sun.

That’s so exciting star lady 😃 Prayers it all goes well .How exciting to meet your little man face to face for the first time!

Could you use the shredded paper as mulch to cut down on the weeds?

2 weeks til pre-register. 3 weeks til surgery. I can hardly wait!

And yes, I’m already ordering things for the garden. New pots (to replace broken ones), seeds, plants, a new hose (old one bit the dust last year). Looking forward to it. Even during my recovery, I can get outside and do some work as long as I’m seated and not bending from a standing position.

That a girl 😃 I love your positivity. I can just picture you ,and all your furry and feathered helpers.
I need to dig up bulbs for friends and family,it’s great having plenty to share around. They will be shooting soon
so I have to get busy.

I’m having to do low acid fruits and vegetables, herbs and flowers. Contemplating buying another peach tree since the one we’ve had since we moved here is finally dying.:cry::cry::cry::cry:

I’m carefully monitoring my former neighbor’s plants to see which ones survived the winter. All will get a drink of water tomorrow if it isn’t raining when I get up. The ones that didn’t survive will be replaced with other things. The ones that did will be moved to another part of the yard since I got hers so late in the year and basically, just put them where we had room and her pots were all different shapes and sizes.

Of course, everything has to be moved and rearranged before I go into the hospital. Her pots are so heavy. Talk about recycling. She used everything as a container! I always enjoyed going across the street and watering her plants for her. Now I get to have a whole new adventure as I make all of them mine.

Need to get more potting mix too before I go in. I’ll have to take the old dirt out of her pots and get the mix in all of the pots. Then when I come home, I can plan the planting that will occur after April 15th.

Each pot will have a solar light in it as well. She had them in her pots every year. And it inspired me to buy some solar lights since hers have worn out. The lights look so pretty at night and make it safer to walk outside too.

That’s a lot of work to do beforehand Lily.As my dad would say don’t bust your boiler.
Peach trees grow pretty quick I think…I’ve had some cut down as they were in the wrong place, but seedlings grew fast and started producing early.
The solar lights are a nice idea!

I already have some of the potting mix. But I need to get smaller bags of it. I can buy some things locally since nothing much will be done until after the 15th. I think the moving of containers will be the hardest thing. But I can pace myself since I won’t be moving them from her driveway under a deadline.

The people cleaning her house were coming within days. We moved 40 containers of various shapes, sizes and weights into my yard within a couple of hours. Boy, did my stomach hurt after that. Thankfully, I’d already moved a few things each day with her consent. Otherwise, the number would’ve been higher. She had so many plants that it was the equivalent of a jungle lining her driveway and yards. It was a joy going over in the Spring and Summer and watering everything. It was a good arrangement. She bought them. I took care of them (along with mine). We shared the harvest. 🤣🦋

My plan is to have the littles on both sides of the porch mixed in with my containers. Those will be the herbs and some flowers. The bigger containers will go in a circle, square containers and round. Those will be the fruits, vegetables and some beans. Lettuce and kale will be to the side. We have a couple of raised beds that’ll be used too.

I’m sad to have lost a neighbor but so glad I got her pots and containers. I won’t have to buy as much as I would’ve. But I do have to replace the broken pots and containers. Some I can just transfer into pots of mine that aren’t being used. Others have to be replaced because I don’t have anything that large. But oh, I plan to have fun with my expanded garden. And I will think of her each time I’m working with her containers and plants.

Well I started a couple of weeks ago with preparing for winter. Have finished the lounge, Gibbing (sheetrock for US readers) , Gib-stopping and finally painting. Tidied up the Garden too.
