I know that numerology is something that is frowned upon by the Church but I read that St Augustine used it often. Can anyone tell me where this quote from St. Augustine comes from:

“Numbers are the Universal language offered by the deity to humans as confirmation of the truth” - answers.com/topic/numerology

I searched and could find it referenced in many places but couldnt find the document he wrote it in initially. (Maybe a language barrier?)

Considering the source, it’s bound to be a heavy hand distorting the original meaning.

For instance, I found that paragraph 51 in chapter 35 of On Christian Doctrine (newadvent.org/fathers/12023.htm) where a sentence could be forced into that quote.
