I’ve been looking to really study St. Augustine’s writings hard in the near future, and I was wondering if anyone had good recommendations of what to begin reading with regards to a guided commentary on his works. I have picked up his City of God and Confessions works, but I haven’t really dove in yet.

Should I start with those or read other works that have a guided tour through his theological writings? Any good book recommendations on his theology, main writings, etc., would be very helpful. Thanks!

I would suggest the Confessions before the City of God.
Good reading!

I would suggest you pick up Jurgens Faith of the Early Fathers Volume 3, it is mostly the works of St. Augustine, such as letters, sermons, etc. I find it a very useful book. The other Jurgens books are good too.
