Anybody here have UNBIASED (and I mean that from both angles) information about the St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre? Specifically I’m looking for the reaction of the Vatican and the actions of the Pope during this time.

Thanks.

Is there any unbiased middle ground between Protestant’s symbolic Holy Communion and Catholics saying Holy Communion is exactly the way Our Lord spoke it?

Is there any unbiased first-hand information regarding the American Civil War? With the American Civil War, the issues of the day were divisive. Some families had children fighting as soldiers on both sides. Even news of battles was covered differently in the North and the South. Regarding battlefields near where I live, the Northern newspapers reported on the First Battle of Bull Run and the Second Battle of Bull Run. While at the same times, the South reported on the First Battle of Manassas and the Second Battle of Manassas.

I am Baptist, signed up for RCIA / RCIC. I don’t think you will find unbiased information of St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre. What source will you accept as unbiased (Protestant or Catholic)? How can either be recognized as unbiased? I looked somewhat myself. But I think you can discredit some information sources for being inaccurate.

I’ll stay tuned to see if there is a good answer.

Personally I am convinced but it is difficult.

The greater difficulty for me is to live a good Christian life the way Catholics teach. It seemed easier to appear to be a good Christian to others (as a Baptist).

I have read one or two books concerning France in that time period that do mention the Masssacre , but I don’t have the titles in front of me just yet. (That time period and the massacre have been a big interest of mine as an ancestor was involved in the Religious War there at the time). I’ll try and dig my books out - if I can find them! 😃

If you can believe it, the Catholic Encyclopedia article on said event is IMHO rather unbiased. You can look it up on newadvent.org

God bless,
Greg
