I know this is probably a trivial question but it has been bothering me for some time and I would like to have some opinions from my brothers and sisters about it. I bought a crucifix with the St. Benedict medal in it that is about 3 inches long. I had it blessed and had every intention of wearing it around my neck outside of my shirt so that it would be a constant reminder, always in my view, of who I am and what I want to be. I don’t want to offend anyone who thinks I am wearing it because they may think I am saying “I am a Catholic, in your face” or a Catholic who thinks I am wearing it just for show like some gangsta. I work in retail so I come in personal contact with alot of people every day. I want to wear it for what I guess is selfish reasons, to remind me, to clutch it in my hand at times of trial. I carry it with me constantly but I rarely wear it in public. Am I a coward? could it inspire others if they see my wearing it? What do you think. Thanks for your time, Dan

If you feel you want to start wearing it - then wear it. I think it would be a great conversation starter. If someone were to accuse you of wearing it as a fashion statement, you could explain what it means and why you wear it.

Per work: unless your employer has a problem with religious items being displayed at work, wearing it outside of your shirt shouldn’t be a problem. It might be a good idea to check first though, you don’t want to end up in a situation where your boss has to talk to you about it.

I too wrestled with this one and now wear my crucifix under my clothes. It’s as close as I can get it to my heart. It reminds me of its presence from time to time and when I place my hands over it I can feel it there.

I would suggest that it should be the first thing you clothe yourself with and keep it under you clothes not because you are a coward but because you wish to keep it close to your heart.

Believe me, whether under or over your clothes, the Grace of God will always be at work.

I wear my beautiful 3 inch crucifix on the outside of my shirt most all the time. One day a woman made a comment that she thought it looked really nice and asked me about it.👍 That was a God given moment for me to witness to this woman about Why I wear a crucifix and Not a plain cross (which I also love to wear sometimes).

I personally love the St. Benedict Crucifix and find that wearing it brings me comfort and helps to remind me of how I am Suppose to be living my life as a Christian.
