A while back, I got a St. Benedict medal at a religious store and started wearing it. For the next few nights, I had strange nightmares, which ended when I took the medal off.

The medal had not yet been blessed and exorcised. Could that have caused the nightmares? Why is that?

Could wearing the medal itself cause this?

I am thinking of wearing one again (after getting it properly blessed/exorcised this time), but I am a bit scared after what happened the first time. Any advice?

To begin with , I don’t know.
What you have written is that you yourself established a connection between a medal and that it wasn t blessed nor exorcised ( whatever a medal being exorcised means).
You had this in mind.
Whether your nightmares come from overeating or a stressful day or some prior idea about an un blessed medal or anything else, I personally have no idea.
Personally…I wouldn’t blame it on the medal . Eventually, it might be what you had at the back of your mind about the medal being unblessed.
A Hail Mary for you.
Peace and a peaceful sleep :pray:t2:

Wearing a Catholic medal, blessed or not, does not cause nightmares. Please stop being superstitious.

Sounds likely to me.
If you bought and wore this medal for some kind of protection against evil (as opposed to because your confirmation saint is Benedict or some other reason), then it’s likely you already have worries in your subconscious that just came out in dreams.

Medals do not cause nightmares. Please speak to a doctor or a priest. Pray, pray, pray!

God Bless!

May I respectfully suggest that, instead of focusing on a simple disc of metal, you concentrate instead on praying to our Holy Father Saint Benedict of Nursia for protection?
Your medal may have already been blessed when you bought it, but it would be a good idea - if you wish to, and are able - to ask a priest to bless it and you too against nightmares that are troubling you.

For you and your wellbeing:
Our Father
Hail Mary
Glory be

Dominus vobiscum.
Pax Cordis Jesu
