Hi All! I hope this is the right forum for this problem. If not, maybe someone can direct me. We moved to a new home in a new town 7 years ago. We have a statue of St. Benedict, who lives on our kitchen windowsill.
Shortly after moving here, my husband dug up a somewhat older version of the EXACT same statue, right our property line. Nobody had really been spiritually comfortable here to begin with. For example, my son and I always had feeling to stay away from a deserted water tower about 1/8 a mile from our home, and we’ve had guests get sick to their stomach if they get too close. Lately though it’s been worse. I hear my son call me, then I find out he’s not home. James (my son & I) see beings walking back and forth in front of my bedroom window. We only see them from about the waist up, because of where the window is located, but lately we’ve seen full figured apparitions from James’ picture window. In addition, my cat (quite tame) has begun to hide under our bed, scared to DEATH of??? Since we said the St. Michael’s prayer, and forbade any evil entity from oppressing anyone in our home, including our animals, pointing out that they too are children of God, since He created them also. Since then the kitty hasn’t been afraid, but we’re scared that digging up the statue allowed who knows what onto our property. Any suggestions? Thanks, Pat in NorCal

I am not in the slightest bit of an expert in these matters, but I would most definitely speak to a priest about it.

Any suggestions?
Stop being superstitious. Get some fresh air and exercise. Eat right. Go do some volunteer work. Made sure you are getting enough sleep. See a doctor and then a psychologist.

Get your house blessed and stop jumping at every shadow for no good reason.

There is much power in psychological “spooking” oneself.

Statues have no powers.

You are leading your son into being spooked and your attitude is making things tense for your pet and causing him distress. He’s not scared to death of the spooks, he’s terrified that his owner has gone bananas.

That said, also have your house tested for mold and gasses and test the soil for contaminants. You could have a simple health issue that is causing hallucinations.

You could easily be causing yourself to hallucinate by getting hysterical. I know this happened to me earlier this year, as one night while my family was away I heard the door latch make sound. It probably got stuck or something as it was extremely hot the week they were away and our air conditioning was broken. Add extreme heat, fear of an intruder, and the sound and out comes constant fear and listening for footsteps and sounds. You will lead yourself to believe that every little sound is an intruder, every low pitched house sound a footstep. You will not be able to relax as you will be constantly looking over your shoulder. At this time this happened to me, my faith was at a low point due to my incessant YouTube, internet, and video game usage. As a result I, I prayed but I didn’t really have faith.

I’d suspect what is happening to you is very similar to what happened to me. Like the other posters said, get your house blessed anyway, and stop being superstitious. After all, God is infinitely powerful. Demons are pathetic in comparison to Him.

You’ve been experiencing these things for seven years? But it doesn’t sound as though anything serious has happened. So, thank God for that.

St. Benedict is a very powerful Saint. A while back, a priest told me that sometimes Saints select the people with whom they want to have a relationship. Perhaps you ought to start a devotion to him.

To the water tower? Or to your home?
Lately though it’s been worse. I hear my son call me, then I find out he’s not home.
I hear people call me all the time and I turn around they aren’t there. I decided it was a call to prayer. So, now when it happens, I pray for the person that I heard call me.

Many of the saints have said that those apparitions are seeking someone to pray for them. So, when you and your son see those, you need to say,

I offer this prayer for this soul:

Prayer for the Poor Souls in Purgatory
English

V. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord.
R. And let the perpetual light shine upon them.

And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Cats (and dogs, pets in general) sense our fears.

I hope those help. You might also want to start a family Rosary and a habit of prayer in the home.

Hi Pat, I don’t think you have to worry about your Saint Benedict statue… it’s the statue of a saint, what could be wrong with that? Sometimes we somehow sense things from the supernatural world (or well, at least some people do). I don’t think you need a psychiatrist like some people here suggest, I think you sound pretty sane and the things you describe may very well be real. However, I would just continue praying and lead a good life. If you sense these things sometimes, so what? Nothing to be scared of, the Lord is with us.
