I’d like to start a thread about Pope St Damasus I. Please share any information about his life, writings, articles about him, relics, stories, etc.

One question I have is about this comment in the New Advent Catholic Encyclopedia:

“An important canon of the New Testament was proclaimed by him in the Roman synod of 374.”

Is this a typo? I thought it was the synod of 382.

I feel like more significant writings to him have survived than by him. Here’s the famous one from St. Jerome:

Within the context of the Arian crisis, it has clear teaching on the primacy, the necessity of communion with the Roman See to belong to the Church, and the Pope’s infallible dogmatic authority.
