St Dogmael’s Abbey

A 6th century Welsh monk, St Dogmael is thought to have lived in Pembrokeshire and Anglesey as many places there are dedicated to him, including St Dogmael, across the river from Cardigan. A parish in Anglesey also bears his name. At some time in his life he moved to Brittany, where a St Dogmeel, or St Toel still has a cult.

He is said to have founded monasteries on both sides of the Channel. St Dogmael is invoked to help children learn to walk.
