What is the story behind St. Jude and why does everybody pray 2 him(excludong the obvious reason: hes a saint)

St. Jude is an apostle. I believe that his name was Judas but in order to distinguish him from the betrayor Judas, Jude is used.

wikipedia has an article on him that might interest and answer your question.

Popular belief is that since he is easily confused with Judas, he gets fewer prayers. Therefore he has the time to work on the hard problems. 😉

Yes, devotion to him was historically low for quite awhile and he is the Patron Saint of Lost Causes among other things.

He’s the patron saint of desperate situations and hopeless causes. I’ve been both at many, many times in my life and St. Jude has definitely been a big help in my life. I consider him a good friend. 🙂

As the patron Saint of hopeless causes, we should make him the patron Saint of the worldwide pro-life movement.

Perhaos one day I’ll start a group that does such a thing.

Saint Jude is very popular with the Hispanic community here in the United States. He feast is very popular in Mexico. We even have a candle of him right now.A picture of some of his statues!

He is my patron of confirmation. He’s a great Saint. Unfortunately, I don’t pray to him enough.

Yehudah was a named shared by three of the apostles - Yehudah the Twin, Yehudah the Hearty/Courageous the son of James, and Yehudah of Kerioth (or the Sicariuus).

We know the first one as doubting Thomas, the third as the traitor Judas, and the second as Jude Thaddaeus. It was a very common name back in the day.

I think one of the main reasons is that many people (like me) despair these days, and want someone to gives their lost hopes to.
