FOr a reality check into early Christian history, dear brethren in Christ and those inquiring, do a search anywhere on the Net for St. Justin Martyr Eucharist and one will find that in 156A.D (or 165- sorry for the dyslexic moment) the holy mass and the same beliefs Catholics hold today is recorded by a once pagan, so very long ago.
Why did Christians hide their faith in secrecy,in the first century?
Very simply- they would perish, be executed.
St. Justin changed that by going public, to the emperor, and explained in detail the reasons, the actions, the faith and he died for living what he believed openly and for defending and explaining truth.
Christ’s peace,
D
