St. Malachy's prediction that there are only two Popes left after JPII

Has anyone read or heard about St. Malachy’s 12th century predictions that after the current Pope (JPII) there will only be two left until the world ends?

The silence of 400 years on the part of so many learned authors who had written about the popes, and the silence of St. Bernard especially, who wrote the “Life of St. Malachy”, is a strong argument against their authenticity, but it is not conclusive if we adopt Cucherat’s theory that they were hidden in the Archives during those 400 years.

The last of these prophecies concerns the end of the world and is as follows: “In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End.” It has been noticed concerning Petrus Romanus, who according to St. Malachy’s list is to be the last pope, that the prophecy does not say that no popes will intervene between him and his predecessor designated Gloria olivæ. It merely says that he is to be the last, so that we may suppose as many popes as we please before “Peter the Roman”.

Yes, I’ve read them, but, I think I’ll stick to the Words of Jesus (no one know the hour), and really not worry about how long, or short a time we have; be prepared everyday, you won’t worry or care exactly what day it is.
 
In the list there are two more Popes. In the list given by Malachi, he usually just gives a few words to describe the Pope. John Paul II, for example, was described as Labor de Salus (not sure of the spelling), which can mean either “the labor of the Sun”, or “eclipse of the Sun”. John Paul II was born during a solar eclipse, and he was Pope during the time the Church was in eclipse (in my opinion).

The next Pope is Gloria olive - “the glory of the olive”.

The one following him, the last Pope, is “Petrus Romano” - "Peter the Roman. There is a lot of information given about this Pope, than the others. He is said to “feed the Church during a great tribulation”, when the Church is greatly persecuted.

It is also interesting to point out that St. Benedict predicted that someone from his order would be a Pope. So far, no one from his order has been Pope. So, according to St. Benedict, one of the next two Pope will be a Benedictine. Just yesterday I was trying to locate a list of Benedictine Cardinals, to see if any of them had been discussed as being the next Pope.

Your Latin may not be as rusty as you thought. You are exactly right.

This is the correct spelling of the name given by St. Malachi: De labore Solis

I believe Cardinal Arinze from Nigeria has something to do with the Benedictine Order.He is also a candidate for the papacy.Here is the link: bcc.rcav.org/01-11-05/local.htm
