Dear friends
A short meditation …
When Mary Magdalen came to the tomb and did not find the Lord’s body, she thought it had been taken away and so informed the disciples. After they came and saw the tomb, they too believed what Mary had told them. The text then says: “The disciples went back home,” and it adds: “but Mary wept and remained standing outside the tomb.”
We should reflect on Mary’s attitude and the great love she felt for Christ; for though the disciples had left the tomb, she remained. She was still seeking the one she had not found, and while she sought she wept; burning with the fire of love, she longed for him who she thought had been taken away. And so it happened that the woman who stayed behind to seek Christ was the only one to see him. For perseverance is essential to any good deed, as the voice of truth tell us: “Whoever perseveres to the end will be saved.”
We see here the echo of the Song of Solomon in todays Sacred Scripture ‘Where is my Beloved?’
We all seek Jesus whether we realise it or not and that ache in the human heart cannot be filled by anyone or anything, but Christ Jesus. Let us constantly ask ‘Where is my Beloved?’ and seek Him with all our hearts, minds and spirit as it is was Him who sought you first. Let us be like St Mary Magdalan and remain waiting on Him who sought us and not turn from the point of our sorrow and be distracted into other things of empty consequence, let us wait at the empty tomb and watch, that which appears empty is the promise of fulfillment…He will return and we will have sought Him, being watchful for the coming of the Master.
O Holy Patron St Mary Magdalan on this your feast day we implore you to beg for us the spirit of perseverance until death, to constantly seek God’s forgiveness and remain repentant and the grace to constantly seek our Risen Lord recognising His Presence in our brothers and sisters and truly in every Tabernacle so that at His coming we can truly say I have fought the good fight, I have run the race to the end and so in His great Mercy be blessed eternally with the Presence of God. Amen
Persevere!.
God Bless you and much love and peace to you
