St. Monica Novena - Prayer for Husbands and Troubled Marriages

I’m starting a novena to St. Monica for my husband and our marriage. Our marriage has been on tumultuous for about 2 years now, through which time we’ve had 2 more little ones and now have 3 children.

St. Monica is the patron saint of:

Abuse victims, alcoholics, alcoholism, difficult marriages, troubled children, homemakers, housewives, married women, mothers, victims of adultery, victims of unfaithfulness, victims of verbal abuse, widows, and wives.

Please join me in praying for husbands and troubled marriages as well as for your own intentions. I will post the novena prayer every day for 9 days and give a little summary of my intentions. Tomorrow will be Day 1. Feel free to post your intentions if you feel comfortable.

When two or more get together to pray in Jesus’s name, it is far more powerful. Let us come together for our husbands and our marriages.

Please pray for my husband’s soul and ask Jesus to take him into His most Sacred Heart. Please pray for his sanctity. Help him in his struggles with alcohol and drugs and help him see that he’s needed as a husband and a father. Please pray for his wounded soul and help him to turn to God when his heart is aching and when he’s struggling, instead of turning to alchohol and drugs. Help us in our marriage. Help us both to be more faithful and true to each other in our words to each other and how we speak with others, especially the opposite sex. Help us to see the errors of our ways and help us come together, instead of ripping each other apart. Pray for my dearest love, my beloved husband, and help us renew our love in each other. Teach us patience and fortitude with each other, for our marriage, and in parenting our darling little ones. St. Monica, pray for us. Amen. Thank you.

Please pray for his conversion of heart and his sanctification. St. Monica, you know how he struggles and the pain he feels. Please help him feel some hope. Show me how I can be a better wife and mother and show me what I can do to make things easier for him and show him that I love him and that I’m fighting for him. Please give us more compassion for each other and more patience. Please also help us to be the parents God is calling us to be and to raise our children in the faith and come back to mass and make our faith a foundation for our family. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Please pray for my love, my husband. He gets so angry and has no patience. His way of trying to manage his anger, resentment, his hurt, is by turning to alcohol and drugs sometimes. When he’s off of it, he’s even more short tempered and irritable. Please help him with this. Please help him to know and help me to show him that he is a beautiful soul and that he’s worth more than this. He’s my one, my love, my person. Help me to grow in my faith and show me how to be a better wife to him and a better mother. Help us to renew our marriage and our love for each other. Teach me how to be persistent in my prayers and strong in my faith like you.

Please pray for my husband. He’s in a bad place today. He’s so angry and so depressed that it completely consumes him sometimes and effects everyone in his path, especially me and our children. Please pray for some sense of relief for him. I hope he gets this job because I know that will help him feel better. Please help shed some hope and give him a sense of peace in his heart, even if it’s just temporary. Please help us to renew our marriage and help us both to let go of our selfishness. Give us more compassion, empathy, patience, and teach us to be selfless and put love first. Please protect our children. Shield them from our arguments and helps us to talk about things that bother us only when we have a moment of privacy. Help us not to take out our frustrations on the kids. They’re innocent little angels and shouldn’t have to be affected by their parents issues and short comings. Please help us. Amen. Thank you.
