St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church

It seems time for all Christians to join together in prayer and perhaps action for the parishoners at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, whose parish was destroyed in the 9-11 attack. They seem to be facing insult on injury by the port authority’s foot-dragging in allowing them to rebuild.
Pray that the Holy Spirit soften hardened hearts and open a path for our brothers and sisters in Christ to have their sanctuary made whole again.

Will certainly, and should be, in our prayers.

I don’t know all of the details I admit, but I cannot understand the hold up with rebuilding this church.

Does anyone know the authorities’ reasoning for not letting this church get rebuilt?

Thank you for sharing this, brother. I just learned about this situation this morning, and it is very sad. May our Lord strengthen and guide them, and may He remove the foolish barriers that stupid people have raised against them (and ultimately against Him)! :signofcross:

Not only St. Nicholas but also other small Christian churches as well. Someone here posted a thread about Sophia Hagia and the request to have a Christian liturgy there…this is very good. We Christians need to stand up for each other more against injustices.

I just heard about it on the local radio station. I will definitely pray for the Church to be rebuilt.

What is very annoying and quite hypocritical about the NYC government and administration is that they are fighting for a Muslim mosque to be built on ground zero, but are denying that the St. Nicholas Church be rebuilt on ground zero, even though it was there originally and destroyed along with the towers and other buildings on 9/11 !!

Javl,

I also must note that there were the Marxists/ Socialists present at the demonstrations who are aligning with this particular Muslim group.

The imam has been having his website scrubbed…he aligns with the Iran and the Revolutionary Guard…and Hamas…Shi’a? The imam is for the disintegration of Israel as well.
I think it is a deliberate provocation to see how the American public reacts…one source says now 85% are opposing now they are finding out the background of them. I see them as a link with Iran who is now getting ready for war. It is all orchestrated.

Anyway, that is why they are name calling anyone opposing them. I think they have ended up loosing credibility regarding their intentions and should consider letting go of their plans. There are American Muslims who also oppose this same faction of militants covering as ‘peacemakers’. They can’t say anything for fear of retaliation…so much for freedom of speech.

The forces supporting this faction also are not fully upholding the sanctity of human life…so what does it matter about the deaths and the nature of how they died? People are now addressing the administration of NYC asking why the Orthodox church and other smaller ones are being held up from being rebuilt.

It is really opposition to Jesus Christ.

Checking deeper into this in news articles, etc., there is still a left wing faction that vehemently argues that the Muslims have a “constitutional right” to build their mosque anywhere they want. It makes no difference to them that ground zero is hallowed ground to the familes of those that died in that 9/11 attack.

I agree with you in your remark about the sanctity of human life. I find no evidence or expression of it among those proponents. Actualy, in that faction, as in extreme Islam, human sanctity does not exist. History, both modern and ancient has proven this many times over. To them Jesus Christ does not exist. He means nothing to them. They follow strictly their own self-serving interests.

Javl…they are trying to obliterate Christianity.

I think what is also not coming across…is that these same people will not allow us the same privileges and rights.

And the Muslims need to allow moderate Muslims, patriotic Americans, to voice their criticisms of them…this is a free society and already the activists are intimidating them. I also felt pain for a man in England who was walking his dog, went to a Muslim to buy something, but the money was refused because of the dog…the man now impure…Sharia.

May be now is the time to confront foreigners coming in that our country is not a place first for profit, but a place where unity and tolerance…and human decency are to be upheld…and may be this is a time as well to confront our own country’s proliferation of pornography and profanity around the world…

How many Americans want public morals to be restored…and Muslims have a valid point in reacting to such degradation as we see in films and language…

I heard last night the uproar is getting worse.

It is time to allow our people to file grievances, a public forum nationwide, why we are angry the way we are. People come here to peacefully integrate and as Pope John Paul said, to hold on to the best of their culture.

The Muslims have great respect for God.

But there are those factions who need to learn to respect the people who made this county. I just read some hurtful things some Britishers experienced in England.

These factions are very demanding of their rights, but we would have hardly none as people of faith if we were in their country.

What we are seeing here is an alliance between the seculars who are stalling the restoration of Christian churches while over accommodating the activists…A celebrity on tv said last night he knows many Muslims across the country, and they as well are offended by these imposing a certain triumphalism and self-promotion of their beliefs…

And the imam has been having his site scrubbed…that showed his praise of the militant Iranian government. I do not see him as sincere.
