Can some one tell me how St Paul died? I read in the Acts of the Apostles where he returned to Jerusalem but I haven’t found out how he Died. I am sure he was martyred and I am interested in how he died and by whose hands.

He was beheaded. I do not know what the rest of the story is though.

He was beheaded outside the walls of Rome, probably in either 64 or 67 AD, during one of Nero’s persecutions of the Church.

Peter was crucified at about the same time. Paul was beheaded rather than crucified because he was a Roman citizen.

I couldn’t remember how he died either, until I read these posts–thank you!

The Acts of the Apostles ends abruptly with Paul’s arrival in Rome and testimony and teaching, and does not mention his death. It would seem that sola scriptura falters at this point if there is no NT mention of the date and manner of his death. May I ask what are the extra-biblical sources for information about Paul’s death?
