Thats what i thought I even argued but it went no where. I will admit one was at a Protestant site and you should of seen the posts I was horrified. It comes from Jesus rebuking him as Satan it kept coming up over and over

Reason why i say I relate to him is - he’s trying as hard as he can there is no malice in him he want Jesus to be happy with him but he keeps making mistakes like all of us - sounds like a regular catholic to me. But maybe other might not agree with me. I mean the gospel Peter I will never be like him after he received the holy spirit

Jimmy Akin has written tracts trying to claim they weren’t. I personally think Paul had a hard time humbling himself to Peter’s authority. Paul was a forceful personality, a gifted writer, and a Roman citizen. Peter was none of these things, and sometimes he didn’t act correctly in Paul’s opinion. Paul was trying to preach a particular set of teachings and Peter threatened to upset that applecart because the Jewish converts leaned towards his views.
TB - is this your exegesis, or were you taught this sort of analysis? If taught, can you tell me anything about the teacher(s) - what sort of background they had, and what role in the Church now? I would appreciate the information. I know mine is not the usual sort of comment or response, but this is important.

You do not know what sort of person you would be, transformed by the Holy Spirit of God. But that - mystery though it is - could be, and ought to be, our deepest and most fervent hope.

I said “I Personally Think…” which should make it perfectly clear.

If you wish to disagree, or make a speech about how I must be poorly catechized, dense, etc, feel free.

I’m sorry this came across so offensively. I was only trying to understand better the effects of actual catechesis in the Church. “I personally think” can certainly be appropriate and truthful, but it is a fact that none of us were raised and educated on an island separated from all human beings. We all have been influence by others, in coming to our own “personal conclusions.” And there are “schools of thought” regarding how one “reads” and understands Scripture.

But thank you anyway.
