What evidence do we have that St. Peter went and died in Rome?

And if the anti-Catholic claims that he was never at Rome were true, would this really mean anything against the Papacy?

And wasn’t the Pope’s “office” at Germany or something, at one time (when we had about 2 anti-Popes at the same time)?

My argument about the Papacy is that it does not matter what city Peter died in. The fact is, he established the Church in Rome and the Church in Rome is the only one that can document an unbreakable succession of bishops from Peter to Benedict XVI. It doesn’t matter where he died, all that matters is the apostolic line. From what I understand, the Orthodox do not contest that the Pope is the successor of Peter.
