Stalin shook his fist at the ceiling before he died?

On Father Groeschel’s show last night, he related a story of Stalin, who apparently, as he lay dying, suddenly arched his back, shook his fist at the ceiling, then collapsed, dead.

Is there any truth to this, and can anyone point to sources?

He did not shake his fist to be exact. According to his daughter (svetllana) in her memoirs, he pointed to the ceiling and dragged down his finger as if to bring a curse upon her and the physicians at his deathbed.

Strange that Hitler is seen as the chief villain of the era (no doubt, he was in the top 2), yet he isn’t the dictator who killed the most people at the time. Stalin killed between 20 million and 60 million.

Is it because Hitler’s the extreme right and Stalin’s the extreme left and the left would rather not mention his name?
 
If Stalin’s an atheist than he dosen’t believe in God, so what’s the use of the fist thing?

Stalin is no longer an athiest. Whether he came to this realization between his last words and his last breath, or after his death, he’s a believer now.

That’s the point. Father Groeschel was intimating that Stalin was shown something of the afterlife in his final moments and rebuked it.

Actually they were both far left…the Nazis were a socialist party. Mussolini’ s Fascists were far right. 'Course the far left never bothers with such historical details…:rolleyes:

Gotcha. Hitler’s widely attributed to the far right, as is eugenics. (Though, of course, the world’s most revered eugenicist, Margaret Sanger, is founder of the left’s Planned Parenthood.)

JADESFIRE, you are correct that both would be considered fa left as both had a govenrning philosophy that came from the source socialism. The real difference between the two is that the Nazis were deeply involved with the “new Age” while the communists were committed atheists.

The comparisson of the conservatives with nazi ideology is a ruse to counterbalance charges that the left see communisim as the ideal that the world should try and acheive. Communism, Nazism and even FACISM all grow from the same branch that is the enlightenment. :yup:
 
Let’s not forget about Mao Zedong. He was responsible for tens of millions of dead Chinese. I don’t believe there is any difference between the far left and the far right. One uses race and the other class to justify their brutality.

It matters because the number of people murdered under Stalin’s regime and those under Mao Zedong’s regime and those under Pol Pot’s regime and those under any other communist dictator’s regime in history is proof of the truth of the one of the prophecies of our Lady at Fatima that “Russia will spread her errors throughout the world.” It has spread and is still spreading now.
