Hello,

I’ve recently started receiving Our Lord in a kneeling position. However, today at daily Mass, I wasn’t sure of the proper way to receive. My parish has an altar rail, but it isn’t used. My priest offered both the Body and Blood of Jesus. He had a parishioner administering the Blood of Our Lord while he distributed the Body. When it was my turn, I kneeled down, received the Body, remained kneeling, and then received the Blood. However, it was awkward because the Eucharistic minister seemed confused and had to come forward to reach me. I wonder if I should have stood up, stepped to the side, kneeled down again, and then received the Blood. I know this is a specialized question, but does anyone have experience with this? Thank you for your help! God bless!

Hello! This is a good question, and I think it is so beautiful that you’re honoring our Lord by kneeling while receiving Him.
In this particular situation, I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to do it; but, out of courteousness for the Eucharistic Minister and the people waiting behind you, I think it may be easier to kneel, receive the body of Christ, then stand, walk to the Eucharistic Minister, and then kneel again to receive His Holy Blood.
I hope this answers your question for you! If not, let me know so I can clarify! May Christ the Lord bless and lead your soul.

Since both species fully contain the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, you might choose to receive one species.
A gentleman at a local parish (no altar rail, in this case) receives the Host kneeling, and then rises and pauses before the chalice to make a reverent bow, before returning to his pew.
May God bless you.

I don’t think it’s appropriate to cause the Special Minister to leave his station.

Thank you all for your loving replies!

To clarify, the aisle is about four feet wide so it felt awkward to stand and re-kneel; I would have only moved over 5 inches! The Eucharistic minister just took a step forward and I twisted a bit to face him. Tuesday Mass is always quiet (only four of us regulars!), so I waited until everyone else had received before I went up. However, I appreciate all your responses, and I think next Tuesday I will stand and re-kneel! Thank you again!
