Hello everyone…

I was speaking to a young lad and he seems to have been captivated by anti-catholic websites, including claims that the Star of David was based on the 666 in Revelations.

So my questions…can someone provide some history behind the Star of David?

And it’s use by the Jews and its use in Christianity/Catholics?

And he showed me a pic of the pope’s miter with the Star of David in it…why is it in the pope’s miter?

I googled pictures of “pope’s mitre.” Popes wear a variety of mitres - the only one I saw with a star of David was one that Pope Benedict wore. Remember that Jesus was from the house of David, so the star would likely refer to that.

Strange thing is, I don’t think there is any link going back to King David.

Thanks…this is good insight.

I had a chance to look at this too…and it looks like it was Pope Benedict XVI who recently used it.

If you are referring to Jesus, his genealogy is given in Matthew 1:1-17.
No, I’m referring to the actual symbol used by the Jews. There is no evidence to suggest that King David ever used the six pointed star as a banner or emblem. The Jews certainly don’t believe it is symbolic of Jesus, do they.

You are right - I read that the star of David was fairly modern - 9th century, I think. It might go back further. But what does it matter? We all know what it means.

I’m not God and he made clear that his thoughts are higher than mine further than the clouds are from the sky. From a modern religious persons perspective, I’ll say “God loved David, God is in charge of the world, why the fk would he remind us of David with Satanism?” I don’t think we could if we tried, and it looks like someone’s trying. I’d cut that out.
