Voyager was especially guilty of this, but I still enjoyed it. How many times did Janeway use the deflector dish for something heroic?Of course the problem with the TNG and subsequent series was the dependence on technobabble.
And the fact that almost every problem would be solved by emitting the Particle of the Week through the main deflector array.
Of course, sometimes the physics would go completely off the rails. There was an episode where the *Enterprise *collided with the USS *Bozeman *(and blew up) near a temporal anomaly, where it got sent back in time a day or two to repeat those events over and over (fly in, collide, blow up, go back to start, do not collect $200).
The headaches and (un-)reality of time-travel aside…the episode led us to believe that a Galaxy-class starship’s tractor beam is not enough to deflect another starship (plausible, I guess); but popping open the shuttle bay doors would provide enough thrust through “decompression” to move an umpteen-ton starship out of the way?
It was the 23rd century version of Superman. You know what I mean: bullets bounced off his chest and he didn’t blink; throw the empty gun at him and he’d duck. (Ha! Two for flinching! Thump thump!)

That was my understanding too. That the people on that planet were completly androgenous, and there were sometime genetic throwbacks to “male” or “female”- the alien in love with Riker had “female” urges but had to have it programmed out of her.
Doesn’t Kate Mulgrew play a Catholic Saint in a movie? The name of the saint escapes me now( 1800’s American saint) but I didn’t know she was pro-life- that’s cool!

Never could warm up to DS9. The Bjoran, can’t remember her name, was a terrible actress, over-acted, and came across as way too overly self righteous. Really turned me off.
I couldn’t appreciate DS9 until I got all the series and watched them in their entirety.
I was greatly disappointed to hear that it will be a prequel. That’s Star Wars, not Star Trek. Star Trek is about exploration and the unknown. That’s why I have to say that DS9 was my least favorite of the series- because it was set on a station rather than a ship that was exploring the galaxy. It’s a shame, too, because I think that, for the most part, DS9 had better actors than TNG and Voyager. Well, maybe J.J. will surprise us, but remember, it is an odd numbered movie.

I hope you’re right. We’ll just have to wait and see. Same with the X-Files movie.
