Hey all you Star Wars fans out there. In light of the just resently released DVD of Revenge of the Sith, I thought I would start a thread and ask a few questions.

First, the movie does not go into Anakin’s knighthood. Does anyone know when this happened? I know Jedi are supposed to go through a trial and then recieve it, but this is not mentioned in the movie. Is it in any of the books?

Second, why did Dooku’s fall? When and why did this happen.

Peace

There are no canonical answers to any of these questions. About the only one we could begin to answer would be the Dooku’s fall would probably have needed to happen quite soon after the events of Episode I. It was, after all, Dooku, operating under the alias “Tyranus” who recruited Jango Fett to be the genetic donor for the clone army and I believe the army had to be started about a decade prior to the events from Episode II.

I know there are other sources out there besides the movies, ie. the books and such.

Come on Star Wars fans, don’t let me down!

Peace

Anakin’s Knighthood takes place in the clone wars cartoon. it explains all of it. Including why General Grievous(SP) has a breathing disorder.

I have watched some episodes, but not all–I don’t have cable.

Could you summerize the enents for me? I find it odd that Grievous would have a breathing problem, I mean he’s a cyborg…

It is way too complicated to explain without writing a paper. Anakins trial is similar to Lukes, in that he must face his greatest fear to become a Jedi.

Mace Windu is the reason Grievous has a breathing problem, I do not want to spoil any more then that.

Is there a place on the net I can go to find this info? I have looked at the Star Wars website and have found nothing in regards to my original questions. Are there other sites that can provide me with the information?

You can order Volume 1 of the Clone Wars and Volume 2 is coming out soon.

There’s also a comic book series by Dark Horse I believe that details how General Grievous came to be.

Between you, me and the internet, I downloaded all the episodes using Bittorrent. Not exactly legal, but effective.

I read through this thread thinking i’d ask my son (who’s read dozes of Star Wars books) about this issue… but had to stop after this post from Mac6yver:

YAAAHHH!! Don’t violate copyright laws in the name of “effectiveness” (remember: a good end does not make immoral means moral…)

yes, i’m a lawyer and fight this fight all the time (including this summer during a family reunion trip to Asia, where various relatives were picking up all the latest Hollywood movies (not yet available in the USA) b/c they were “cheap” (aka bootlegged!)). Don’t let your values fall to expedience or greed…

the judge of a person’s character is what he does when no one’s looking…

and why DOES Grevious heave and sputter?

I don’t recall exactly what happened (I’m getting older you know), but wasn’t there something in ep.III that happened where he became a Jedi (thus the knighthood thing)? But his beef was that he wasn’t considered a Jedi Master?

When it when he killed Dooku?

That Anakin attained the rank of knight is almost certainly not an event that happened during Episode III. Even though he killed Dooku. In the first place, the manner in which Dooku was killed did not comport with the Jedi Code. Anakin said as much. Further, when Obi Wan killed a Sith Lord in Episode I, he still had to await his promotion from the Jedi Council. That Yoda explains to Obi Wan at the end of that movie that he has attained the rank of knight, implies that this ascension was not a sure thing. Further, when Anakin is seated on the Council he expects to attain the rank of master, not knight. Anakin’s aversion to being placed on the Council without promotion would certainly have been more justified if he was still a padawan learner.

I’d say its pretty clear. Anakin no longer has a padawan braid at the start of ep. 3. So he’s already a knight.

Anakin was made a knight in The Clone Wars. He was promoted w/o having to face the trials because the Jedi were in need of more Jedi’s. Right before Episode III started, Anakin and Obi-Wan were sent on a mission to a fairly desolate planet. Anakin goes through a ‘field trial’ of sorts While going through the trial, he sees a vision of what he will become and what he will do. When Ep. III starts is a full fledged knight.

He saw on a cave drawing that was a representation of himself w/ an artificial arm. The grew and destroyed all of those around him and eventually consumed him.
