Starting RCIA late?

Well today is the Day I sit down with the RCIA instructor and the Pastor for the First time. I am wondering what to expect…? I am so excited, I called my Mother In Law who really has been wanting this for me for the past 9 years and she is so happy she started crying on the phone. I know it will be a process but that’s the best part, Going from Growth to Oath :newidea::newidea:

Well it is done… they did my paper work and I am actually joining a class in progress and it looks like my time might be a little quicker and it is possible I may be able to come into the church this Easter… I have a lot of catching up to do but I can handle it.

Praise God!!! Your enthusiasm is why I have so much respect for converts & reverts and it sounds like you have already most of the work.

=Zeldarocks;8623245]As some of you may already know, I am looking to start RCIA in the near future; however, I just learned that my local church started RCIA back in August, meaning I missed 15+ classes as it is. My local church does not appear to run RCIA year-round; would they be able to make an exception and allow me to start as it is? I really dont want to wait until 2013 to be received into the Church

It’s up to the Pastor based on your previous faith history formation. Quite unlikely.

Good news: it appears that my parish runs RCIA year-round! I will be meeting with the coordinator over the next few days to work out the specifics.

My guess is you’ll be asked to attend the RCIA classes, but you likely will not have to go through all the same rites to finish. When I did RCIA last year we had a woman in our class with your same situation and she was with us the whole time but didn’t have to go through all the same rites.

I am happy this worked out for you - I began the ‘journey’ 4 times now - I had to restart Inquiry 3 times due to moving and once due to surgery that put me out of commission for 8 weeks just at the point to the Rite of Welcoming with a group I had been with for 9 months that were confirmed 6 weeks after the Rite of Welcoming. Adding to the frustartion is that I have attended Catholic Church for nearly 40 years off and on - on for the last 2 years without missing a Sunday or a Holy Day of Obligation and often Daily Mass except for the 4 weeks I could not sit up - graduated from a Catholic college, my children to Catholic Schools and I have worked/volunteered at Catholic schools for about 8 years. When I finally ‘got it’ I have been uprooted the 3 times and then flat on my back to make the 4th start necessary. I have even had the Rite of Healing and at a separate time First Confession. Yet I wait for the Easter Vigil —again. I am glad somebody somewhere didn’t make you start at the beginning and wait for years like I have had to. What used to be a pleasant journey seem to be like driving in circles now…Father - are we there yet? How much longer???
