I saw tgis picture of irawi catholiics welcoming a virgin mary dtatue into town? Iraqi catholics are chaldeans, and that is,eastern, do my question is what is the eastern CATHOLIC, not ortodox, policy on statuary

Statues can’t even begin to compare to icons. Most Westerners think that icons are just a style of Byzantine art, but they have massive theological depth. Literally every single thing in an icon, from the tiniest star in the background sky, has a meaning behind it. The icon is not a picture, it’s a whole story being told. You just can’t recreate such a thing in statue form.

Our local Eastern Catholic Church hosted the statue of Our Lady of Fatima when it was brought to town. 🙂
