There is a statue of Mary in my church and I would like to know which title its supposed to represent. Mary is standing, head bowed. Her hands are clasped together in the classic prayer position. She is standing on a hemisphere and there is a serpent under her foot. I can’t find similar statues on line. Does anyone know which it could be?

The hemisphere is probably symbolic of the world, so it represents her queenship of the world
The serpent probably represents Satan, so probably “mary, terror of demons” or the smiliar title

I’m gonna guess it has to do with her smashing Satan’s head in Revelation.

Our old priest (who has retired) said it was the Immaculate Conception, but it doesn’t look like any of those.

My first thought after reading your description was The Immaculate Conception.

We had an Immaculate Conception statue in the stairwell of my old school. It looked a lot like this one:

Our sweet lady, mother of Saviour help us.

This is the one I have at home. English Madonna and Child. Jesus is cradling a cross in his arms. Means so much to me as it was a gift from my mother.

And my all time favourite, Our Lady of Walsingham

Hands folded and crushing the snake is likely the Immaculate Conception (aka the Immaculata).

Hands open and crushing the snake is Our Lady of Grace (from the Miraculous Medal).

That’s Our Lady of Grace from the Miraculous Medal. This pose was considered unusual for a Mary representation when St. Catherine Laboure described the Miraculous Medal, because her hands are open to dispense grace down to us, rather than folded in prayer or holding Jesus.

We have a similar statue in our family.

The second picture is so amazing it looks Photoshopped, honestly…

I wonder what all the protestants in Butte thought about that. :cowboy_hat_face:
