I never thought I’d see this day…
Somebody stole masks from work.
And now we have a very limited access to PPE
Gloves are still plentiful, but we’re issued a skeleton amount of gloves and gown, the rest are locked away by management.
Very few N95 respirators.
They’re worth more than gold.
Staff is positive For Covid19, so our staffing is under stress.
And extra PPE is literally hidden and locked away where RNs can’t find it.
And we’re taking all the residents’ temperatures and finding fevers and have very little PPE to do basic care…
I literally have more and easier access to narcotics than To gowns and masks!

Maybe people stole because they were scared for their family. Maybe they didn’t steal from greed to RE sell.

But stealing is wrong and it HURTS other people.

More than likely, people have been swiping different items for years. Now, with the shortages their theft is apparent.

Folks were stealing all sorts of supplies from my place of employment until I got everything locked down. Unfortunately, it’s just the way things are nowadays…

Especially right now. I got some bandanas I am probably going to use for masks. Then again, I am also not really going to leave my house for a while, so there is that. If there was a way I could help y’all, I would.

People have always swiped medical supplies and snacks from work.
Occasionally you get a diversion of narcotics, but only a few people have access to the narc keys.
But I’ve never seen PPE stolen

Disgusting.

Has anyone reported that to admin/security/police?

Better yet, the local news people. That will definitely put the brakes on it imo.

Sending you :hugs:

Yes, administration knows.
That’s why they locked up the remainder of the PPE and are issuing it to us in dribs and drabs.

They probably don’t feel like they have other options.

For others like me, a translation: PPE is personal protective equipment. I had to look it up.
