Hey so im only 13 getting closer to my faith :D. So my dad was searching for his ear buds he let me borrow for a day or two and I borrowed them but on the third day I forgot where I put them. Only today I found them in my little shelf when I threw a pingpong ball at it. Would that be considered Stealing or just forgetting. I also argued that I didn’t hide it which I regret because I did shove it somewhere and just completely forget. If anyone that has a better understanding than I do please reply if this would be stealing or forgetting. Thank you and God Bless 😃

It was forgetting. I think you should speak to your pastor or spiritual director. This sounds like scrupulosity.

If you are having trouble distinguish simple things like this, you should talk with your parents and your pastor. They will help you form your conscience.

Being forgetful is not a sin. You didn’t intend to take it, and simply forgot to return it. I assume you have returned the item. No harm done.
God Bless

Must you be so condescending? You sound very rude to this nice young person.

Do you really have the information to tell this person that he is scrupulous? Is it necessary to make such a quick judgment about someone you don’t know?

Stealing is a deliberate act, and this wasn’t,you just forgot where they were.
Just wait 50 or 60 years, you’ll be forgetting where things are a lot more often. 😄

I’m not being condescensing. I mean it sincerely. A 13 year old concerned that they are committing mortal sins by forgetting where they put some ear buds needs to talk to their parents and their pastor about their anxiety. They need spiritual guidance from trusted adults in their life.
