Today I heard on the radio that congress is trying to pass a bill which would open up the # of lines used to do research with stem cells.
They also mentioned that in the clinical trials it will be necessary to infuse human stem cells into animals which create chimeras (half man half animal creatures). I was HORRIFIED. They stress that their main objective is to help find cures and therapies for diseases (because you know our culture can’t STAND to suffer!). There is minimal regulation at the moment regarding stem cell research because government funding is minimal.

Points of Discussion
  1. If and when new treatments or cures are discovered fromstem cells, are we to refuse these treatments because as we know, the End NEVER justifies the means?
2)I believe this is man’s expression of selfishness hidden under the disguise that mankind can only benefit by such medical advancements. It is selfish of the doctors-who seek power and prestige by discovering such cures. It is selfish (and greedy) of the those financing such experiments- they seek more and more money. And it is selfish of those who want these medical treatments to alleviate their pain and suffering…GOD FORBID THEY ACTUALLY imitate Christ and His Passion and accept their suffering.
  1. Can we all unite in prayer because as I see it, this is a David and Goliath battle and only thru God’s grace will we be able to stop this before it gets out of hand.
ANY COMMENTS???

Pope Benedict (then Cardinal Ratzinger) made these strong remarks pertaining to stem cell research:

" When, as today, there is a market in human organs, when fetuses are produced to make spare organs available, or to make progress in research and preventive medicine, many regard the human content of these practices as implicit. But the contempt for man that underlies it, when man is used and abused, leads-like it or not- to a descent into hell."
