On the lighter side, and in the wake of some of the “throwdowns” that have been taking place recently on CAF, I think we could all use some “lighter side”…

Those of a certain age may remember this show. I loved it! One of the better things ever to appear on American TV:

Some interesting “meetings” (and some of these people are still alive, they could portray themselves):
  • Noam Chomsky, Camille Paglia, William F Buckley Jr, Pope St Pius X, Golda Meir
  • Lenin, Thomas Jefferson, Kanye West, Barry Goldwater, Patrice Lumumba
  • Winston Churchill, Peter Singer (Princeton ethicist), Mao Zedong, Sojourner Truth, Leonard Cohen
The possibilities are endless.

It would be great if someone could create a virtual reality game where you select historical figures and have them interact.

Although I’m a fan of Steve Allen, that’s one show I never ran across. Sounds like it could have been interesting.

In today’s environment, maybe not so much.

I remember watching it once. Most of it went over my head, you have to really know a lot of history to “get it” and I didn’t. I do remember his wife as Catherine the Great, I believe.

I recall it. It was mildly interesting. And since it was scripted, it maintained a balance of sorts, by insuring most “guests” made at least a few telling points, representative of the originals’ views…
