Still be a Jew?

I have been wondering… what if all the Jews back in the time of Christ believed and accepted that he was the Messiah, would we, as Christian, wouldn’t be call Christian, but instead still be call Jew and is now awaiting for His second coming?

Perhaps more important is how do we show today’s Jews how the Messiah has come by the joy in our life.

You might check out Acts 9:2 which refers to the early believers as those who belong to “the Way”…

Acts 12:2 tells us that it was at Antioch where the disciples were “first called Christians”. It seems that this was a “name” given to the early believers by those who were in opposition to the faith.

But its still a “great name”… Consider the meaning of the word “Christ” - it basically means “the anointed” and is Greek for the Hebrew word “Messiah”. “Christ” was actually one of Jesus’ titles - not his name - i.e. “Jesus the Christ” - same as saying “Jesus the Messiah” (Not that Christ didn’t eventually “become” a name by common usage)…

Hebrew - Messiah = Greek - Christ = English - Anointed

…as in “the Lord’s Anointed” which refers to the King of Israel in the Old Testament…

I know this doesn’t answer your question, just some other things to factor in…
