Stop This Blasphemy Against The Eucharist

It doesn’t matter if it came from any of the Papal Masses or not…it’s still a desecration of the Eucharist. Is it any less of a desecration if it only came from a Mass celebrated by a priest instead of the pope?

It may be a host someone bought at the local Church Supply store. People will always try to make a dishonest buck.

The only time I was ever ripped off on Ebay was an auction of a relic - after I had already bought several.
 
Cathmass… the first time this happened… I wrote a scathing letter to eBay, and retracted my membership. I haven’t been back since. I urge every Catholic at eBay to do the same. eBay is way out of line with this. They need to know that Catholics are not going to put up with it anymore. :mad: If a whole LOT of members suddenly pull out, and tell them WHY… they may think about it.

I would also recommend that you contact the Archdiocese where the Host is being “hawked” and alert them. This is how the first offense was made public.

By the way, “proof” of the reality of the Host… isn’t really the issue here. If there is even the slightest chance that the Host being sold is CONSECRATED… then, ALL Catholics should be outraged. I for one, am not willing to play the “Is It… or Isn’t It” Game with Our Lord’s Precious Body. The fact is… they are PRESENTING it as such. That in itself, is a slap in Our Lord’s Face.

Also wanted to add… this situation can never be “moot” as long as eBay and the like… are allowing this sort of thing to happen.

I would recommend to everyone here… to drop a line to the Catholic League “Religious and Civil Rights” about this latest outrage. (link below)

If we don’t stop being so passive, about this… eBay will keep allowing it.

would Christ remain in the Host? Could He not withdraw Himself from it, so nothing would happen?

It is still an awful crime though.
 
Christ is the substance of the host, which I went. sorry for confusing language.

Personally, I did not click the link the OP provided. Because I made a promise to Jesus… (way back, when it happened the first time) that I would not “frequent” a website which blatantly abused His Precious Body (hawking It, as a common collectable); Or His Church (this situation is an outrage… not only to Our Lord; but to ALL Catholics… worldwide. Remember, WE are part of His Mystical Body… the Church Militant). If we don’t stand up for Our Lord… who will? I for one, refuse to participate at eBay. The first “offense” was enough for me to revoke my membership. It sickened me, permanently.

However, the link provided by the OP did appear to be a genuine eBay link. The thread, a genuine cry of outrage (which I share, CathMass :hug1: ). With that in mind, I have provided the link for the CATHOLIC LEAGUE. And again, I would urge everyone to bring this to their attention. They have a voice… which can speak for all Catholics and be heard. I would be grateful, to hear that they have contacted eBay… and demanded that this “practice” be stopped.

As to whether Our Lord could “extract” Himself from the violated Host(s). The answer is yes… certainly He could, if He chose to. He is God. He can do anything He choses to do. But there is no way that we (limited human beings) can know if He has done this. Do we want to take that chance? I don’t.

eBay has got to STOP allowing this to happen. And Catholics have got to STOP being so passive about it.
 
It was a genuine link; the first time I clicked it, I saw the listing. They removed it sometime today and replaced it with that message I posted.

The complaints have had an effect!
 
Ebay does not care about blasphemy.

Selling a fraud they would care about.

There is no proof this host was even in the Bronx - never mind consecrated by any priest.
 
To be fair, I don’t think EBAY monitors all auctions, nor does it have the capacity to do so. And, once they found it they obviously removed it to prevent further problems. I’m not saying the person was right in doing so at all. It is blasphemy. I just don’t know that it’s possible for them to keep it from happening until they learn about it.

Hi EM. It really doesn’t matter what eBay thinks. It’s what WE… as baptized Catholics think… about what they are allowing. And how WE respond to it.

As I said above… it also doesn’t matter if the Host was truly consecrated. It is the principle of the thing. The INTENT was to sell a Consecrated Host… from a Papal Mass. That in itself, is a blatant disrespect to Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Someone out there… thought they could make a buck… from selling the Body of Jesus Christ. Even if it was fake. That was their intent. I certainly HOPE that eBay has now realized the magnitude of this offense for Catholics.

What do you suppose the reaction would be… if someone placed a “supposed” finger, from a Holocaust Victim on eBay? Would it matter if the finger was genuine? NO. The INTENT to disrespect the Holocaust Victims is what would count. And I assure you, the outrage would be loud and justified.

The INTENT here… is to disrespect the Lamb of God. In other words, to make money… because Catholics believe that the Host IS the Body of Christ. In the mind of the person who posted this auction… someone out there… would pay a dear price, to have this item. That is enough for me. I want this to stop… as should ALL Catholics.
