What are some cool stories of saints who loved their enemies? Two examples I think of are St. John Paul II visiting his attempted assassin in prison and St. Maria Goretti forgiving her murderer.

If you will include those who are not saints, then what about Monsignor Hugh
O’Flaherty and and Col. Kappler (Scarlet and the Black - TV movie of real life persons in WWII).

I’m no saint, but I have loved my enemies. Would I share those stories? Not likely. After all, I did nothing but my obligation - useless servant that I am.

Coolness would be proportional to the damage someone caused you, and to the degree of your charity in light of that. And, so to, to the extent of the trial. The magnitude of mercy.

And would recounting, not diminish merits?

Saint Catherine of Siena was serving this sick women that was telling nasty rumors about her. She had these disgusting sores and the smell drove away the people, but Catherine still helped her in a gentle and meek manner.

Depends on your intent.
Do you desire to upbuild yourself, or the Body of Christ?
Always the latter, but I also fear of potentially losing merit for some good I have done.

Not a saint, but a living person who is also a Catholic:

Immaculee ilibageza (not sure spelling), her book is called Live To Tell, about how she survived the Rwandan genocide.

It was very hard for her to forgive, and she struggled with the temptation to hate the people who killed her family members, but she was able to forgive, in the end.
