"Communist authorities ordered the pope to be publicly denounced, and clerics needed to do so as well.

Paul Wang, an elderly church member of Baotou, told ucanews.com that during this period only three priests out of 130 in Inner Mongolia refused to denounce the pope. ‘Father Bian was one of them,’ he recalled.

“Day and night, many times every day, Red Guards paraded the priest through the streets where some villagers screamed and kicked him. One old man hit him with a rod, injuring his thigh.”

The good news is the Vatican and China reached an agreement this year for appointment of bishops so Catholics don’t have to hide anymore in China

The bad news is it’s the state who’s picking the bishops.

Ok so a post I put up was flagged and removed. It was about the persecution of Muslims in China. It was a serious comment about what is happening there. It’s on topic if we are discussing Christianity there on this thread, as the previous three posts have. And the Chinese persecution of religion.
It’s something we all need to be aware of, and not make invisible.

Read these before deciding to flag again. China is persecuting several religions. Not just Christianity.

This is a huge problem several governments are working on. And China is getting upset they are commenting.

If anyone followed APEC, it ended badly , partly because of disagreement between China and USA on certain issues. And being outspoken on this , is certainly something China is unhappy about.

Pray for this persecuted people as much as we pray for persecuted Christians in China.

It is horrible and by some reports getting worse. The Chinese government despises all religion.

Yes, and they are busy building up their defences around their ocean going territory.

The not so quiet achievers anymore.
