How does creating a religion, and then brutally torturing and killing the believers of that religion, supposed to be considered “pacification”? That doesn’t make sense.

How does creating a religion, and then brutally torturing and killing the believers of that religion, supposed to be considered “pacification”? That doesn’t make sense.

It would be about control, spreading so much fear in the people, that they never even think about being disobedient, or causing problems. This tactic has been used many times thru out history, the civil rights events of the 1960s are one good example, the cops and govt to some extent were sending a message to the entire black community everytime they publicly beat and killed someone who was protesting, being disobedient, etc.

If you spread enough fear thru the masses, people WILL eventually break down and automatically obey. Heck obedience experiments were even done in the 1970s, the results found we are are a very obedient people when it comes to punishment, torture, death, etc.

You’re comparing apples and oranges here. Religion is a choice, so if what you’re saying is true, most people would have just given up on that particular brand of faith to save their skin. Who wants to be fed to a lion just because you’re part of a religion made up to combat “social unrest?” I’ll pass on that. But people will be fed to lions if what they believe is true. Those who were put in that situation were still close enough to the original disciples to be told the truths straight from Jesus, so their belief wasn’t based on the writings of the apostles but the mouth to ear transition of info from those who were first hand witnesses.

Race is not a choice and those who fought for Civil Rights in the 1960’s couldn’t choose to not be black. So even if the police were “sending a message” those to whom the message was sent couldn’t do anything to change why they were being sent that message.
