It is absolutely a marvel what we can do to save the lives of children in utero.

It’s a medical miracle certified by the Vatican. “We” didn’t do it; God did it.
Unless, perhaps, you mean that “we” prayed for the intercession of Ven. Fr. McGivney.

Soon-to-be Blessed Father McGivney, pray for us.

My apologies, I was thinking of how children with Spina Bifida and the like have been cured by in utero surgical treatments. Thanks for the correction.

No problem. I do agree that modern medicine has found many ways to save babies in the normal non-miraculous medical ways, and that too is a special gift from God in helping these doctors to develop their skills and knowledge, though it’s not miraculous.

It’s likely that this was a more severe case that doctors found to be fatal, unlike those cases of survival, which may have been more mild.

It was declared a miracle, no? Such a declaration is only made under the assumption that no natural explanation is possible, period.

Well, the Vatican determined otherwise in the case of this one. So if you have an issue with their decision, please take it up with them. They investigated thoroughly and I’m sure have all the medical reports they need on which to base their decision.

I would also note that in cases of a saint such as Fr. McGivney, it’s likely that there are multiple cases of alleged miraculous healings submitted and only the best ones will be relied upon. We do not get to hear about all of the submitted cases for every saint. As Catholics, we (Or at least the vast majority of us) also feel the Vatican and its investigations are reliable. If you are not Catholic, you might be skeptical, but that’s not our problem. The Vatican will take care to have whatever documentation it needs to protect itself.
