Today’s homily was rather strange to me. Our priest preached about today’s readings specifically Mark 13:24-32 and the last days.
He said the following things which struck me as kind of odd and rather unorthodox.
He said that Jesus did not say any of the things that he was supposed to have said in Mark Ch 13:24-32. This was just something that was believed by Mark that was applied to Jesus.
He said Jesus did not speak about the last days or heaven for that matter at all. He was a person who lived in the present and the establishment of the Church.
Basically our priest said that this message was meant convey the message that we must transform into another person (hence our world ends) to be more like Jesus.
He also said the when we pray the liturgical prayer that Jesus will come again we do not mean the end of the world at all. Just that he be present in our lives.
Is there any tract or part of the catechism that I can read about the actual teaching of the church about the end of days?
