The following “question” appeared in Yahoo Answers and I think it merits detailed answers because the forum is set up in such a way that you can only reply once and the character space is limited. I have invited the questioner here to examine the answers we give him. Sadly, he has lumped Fundamentalism and magical creationists with all Christians. Here is his question:

a question for Christians?

do you do the following
  1. You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.
  2. You feel insulted and “dehumanized” when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.
  3. You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Trinity God.
  4. Your face turns purple when you hear of the “atrocities” attributed to Allah, but you don’t even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in “Exodus” and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in “Joshua” including women, children, and trees!
  5. You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.
  6. You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.
  7. You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs – though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most “tolerant” and “loving.” 8) While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in “tongues” may be all the evidence you need to “prove” Christianity.
  8. You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history but still call yourself a Christian.
  9. You say Hitler was an atheist when in fact his religion is in questioning he could have been catholic or atheist but was most likely catholic
    which number do you do
    Additional Details
my question is which numbers do you do

I am in the middle of moving to a new location but I will contribute as time permits.

I do not understand how this is considered "a " question. Each one is so loaded, slanted and ridiculous as to need a detailed answer to each. I am not going to play this game too much, but for the sake of completion, number 4 and number 10.

Why would someone want to disturb their inner peace by internalizing this sophistical reasoning? Why try to disturb mine by posting this!

I could watch the above cat all day. Cats! If they aren’t being bad, they’re plotting to be bad!

We deny the existence of others, because we have been revealed, in Person, the actual One God those thousands of civilizations were ‘searching’ for and CREATED from their own ranks throughout our history as a species. We do not deny what we do not know. We proclaim what we DO know!
Not ‘dehumanized.’ Amused….that an animal life form can apparently evolve to a state to critique ‘me’ instead of visiting his ‘apparent’ ancestors at the zoo and help them understand things will change with opposable thumbs.
We don’t laugh at polytheists or anyone for that matter about matters divine. We’re too busy struggling with our own understanding of a revelation that 3 equals 1 !!
Our faces turn purple whenever ‘man’ commit atrocities in the name of ANY deity, because we understand that it’s humanity doing it! The difference is that, the wrath of God is apparently COMPLETE in annihilation and form. Again, understanding revelation would assist.
Without the laughter, we choose to follow Mary and her Son, because He ACTUALLY came back from the dead……proving once and for all that there is life after death and HE OWNS it! If any other ‘god’ can do that, present his/her case and let’s have a look!
God made everything, seen and unseen. Science studies those things. Therefore, there can be no ‘loopholes’…only errors and misrepresentation! We examine the evidence of the claims just as we do with claims ABOUT God with revelation as a backstop.
By profession and actions do we live out our tolerance and love. ‘Hiding’ Hell and Eternity from anyone is neither of these things. A disbelief in either does not remove them from existence,…unfortunately. We’d (probably) try it if we knew!
If you’ve seen some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in tongues and you take that as Christianity, you haven’t evolved too far from your zoo ‘relatives.’
Then how can you be questioning Christianity, if you already know you’re addressing those who DO NOT know the Bible?! Clearly, you are aware your audience have limited knowledge of matters Christian! Step this way…unless you prefer to be rolling on the floor spitting your ignorant verbiage.
Hitler, like you, came from a line that included Christians! He made his choice as do you! The science you seem to use as a measuring stick against Christianity was founded and set forth by Christians for the betterment of humanity in its search and progress. Galileo, Copernicus, Newton, et al.

Send him/her that and tell 'em I said it!

*Osiris was widely worshiped as Lord of the Dead until the suppression of the Egyptian religion during the Christian era… as Osiris rose from the dead they would, in union with him, inherit eternal life through a process of imitative magic.

…This combination, Osiris-Horus, was therefore a life-death-rebirth deity*

…The first phase of the festival was a public drama depicting the murder and dismemberment of Osiris, the search of his body by Isis, his triumphal return as the resurrected god, and the battle in which Horus defeated Set. ( Sound familiar)

…*"The Egyptians of every period in which they are known to us believed that Osiris was of divine origin, that he suffered death and mutilation at the hands of the powers of evil, that after a great struggle with these powers he rose again, that he became henceforth the king of the underworld and judge of the dead, and that because he had conquered death the righteous also might conquer death…In Osiris the Christian Egyptians found the prototype of Christ, and in the pictures and statues of Isis suckling her son Horus, they perceived the prototypes of the Virgin Mary and her child
  • ( sound familiar)

What are some names that Osiris had?

"He was called Lord of Lords, King of Kings, God of Gods…the Resurrection and the Life, the Good shepherd…’ ( sound familiar)

Osiris came from the dead and he did this almost 2500 years before Jesus.

How about: You get really upset with people when they say there is a God, but you’re really angry with God when you end up in Hell. 🤷😛 Just kidding.😃

You DO know why the ‘glyphs’ in the pyramids STILL bear animal heads?! Don’t you?

Your religion is Enquirer. Would you enquire further into these; Osiris did not resurrect to life, he was the god living-in-the-underworld and god of those who were living after death. The second thing which I am surprised at is the notorious difficulty Egyptologists say they have deciphering and translating ‘glyphs’ as they were written differently all the time by different people and were different even in the times of different Pharoahs and in different areas, so
"He was called Lord of Lords, King of Kings, God of Gods…the Resurrection and the Life, the Good shepherd…’ ( sound familiar)
is a singularly fortuitous translation. Could you also check these translations with several Egyptologists and post their various responses.
