I have not where this topic falls under in category but I feel like I need to discuss it

With everything from Coronavirus to Police reform I have become rather anxious and stressful

Fundies, Black Pillers and Red Pillers screaming about the end times and New World Order

Others shouting social distance and no police

It feels like I’m doomed and I’m trapped in this pit of dispair

I hear all kinds of “(color) pills” and labels like “normies”, “simps”, and other rubbish

It feels like I am losing my mind, and I’m overloading with stress.

Honestly what can I do besides pray? I feel like the authorities are gonna come and arrest me for no reason now, I feel fear sleeping at night…

I’m trying to cut off news sources and social media because everyone on all sides is screaming like panicked children and demanding I join in the madness or else I’m ignorant or in denial or whatever.

What should I do?

Absoultely take a step back from social media, and media in general. Put your wellbeing first. Do you have anyone you can talk to about all the stress you’re feeling? Family members, a friend?

It sounds cliche, but self care is what you need. I’d encourage you to get some physical exercise everyday, if possible go for a walk. Take moments to quiet yourself and just focus on the here and now. Spend time reading, or listen to audiobooks, listen or play music, whatever hobbies you like. Focus on them.

You can always talk to your doctor about the stress you’re feeling. I am sure they would be able to help you climb out of despair. I also think it would be a good idea for you to call or email your Priest and ask him for advice.

Stop with the social media. Also distance yourself from any friends who can’t stop nattering about politics or “pills” or “normies” or any of this gunk. Fear and forced isolation seem to have done a number on a lot of people. Hopefully as things settle a bit and people are allowed to go out and about again, they’ll stop acting so weird.

Pray more, receive Eucharist on as many days as you reasonably can.

Time spent with Jesus is peaceful.

A lot of the terms you mentioned, like red pill and new world order, are things I’m not seeing online. I think it may be your choice of social media and news sources. You might start to feel better if you limit your exposure to those influences.

Also beware that facebook and other social media customize your personal feed based on what you click and what you spend the most time on. They want every user’s constant attention, and they get it by delivering every user’s outrage, fear, and obsession.

Many news outlets also try to get more attention by pushing both news and commentary that provoke outrage and anxiety.

We don’t have to consume what social media and news agencies are feeding us. There are better things online and in real life. Choose wisely.

It’s mostly friends of mine parrot this stuff and have links to these sources

Take a vacation from your friends. Stop listening to the news and social media.

Find something else to do. After a while, you will stop and ask yourself why you ever followed everything so closely.

Be at peace. Pray. Resist the noise of the world.
