Please pray for me, I have been doing well in my effort to be pure, one of the things I would do is sleep on the floor, but now my father says I have to sleep in my bed!!😦
The comfortness of my bed is a near occasion of sin for me at times, especially when I wake up, what do I do? I understand the only time I have the obligation to disobey my parents is when they tell to do something that is sinful, but can this also go for avoiding near/remote occasions of sin? I don’t want to fall into impurity again!! I am the only serious catholic in the household. Please pray for me and my family.

I, too, struggle with sins of impurity. I will be sure to pray for you and everyone who struggles in similar ways.

Lord Jesus, model of purity and holy virtue, have mercy on us and guide us to purity, chastity, modesty, and obedience to Thy Holy Will.

Saint Maria Goretti and Mary, Mother of God, pray for us now and always! Amen. šŸ™‚

Oh Saint Maria Goretti who, strengthened by God’s grace, did not hesitate even at the age of twelve to shed your blood and sacrifice life itself to defend your virginal purity, look graciously on the unhappy human race which has strayed far from the path of eternal salvation. Teach us all, and especially youth, with what courage and promptitude we should flee for the love of Jesus anything that could offend Him or stain our souls with sin. Obtain for us from our Lord victory in temptation, comfort in the sorrows of life, and the grace which we earnestly beg of thee (purity), and may we one day enjoy with thee the imperishable glory of Heaven. Amen.

Prayers for Purity

Mary, Mother most pure, and Joseph, chaste guardian of the Virgin, to you I entrust the purity of my soul and body. I beg you to plead with God for me that I may never for the remainder of my life soil my soul by any sin of impurity. I earnestly wish to be pure in thought, word and deed in imitation of your own holy purity. Obtain for me a deep sense of modesty, which will be reflected in my external conduct. Protect my eyes, the windows of my soul, from anything that might dim the luster of a heart that must mirror only Christ-like purity. And when the ā€œBread of Angelsā€ becomes my food in Holy Communion, seal my heart forever against the suggestions of sinful pleasures. Finally, may I be among the number of those of whom Jesus spoke, ā€œBlessed are the pure of heart for they shall see God.ā€ Amen.

++++++++++++++++++++

Lord, inflame our hearts and our inmost beings with the fire of Your Holy Spirit, that we may serve You with chaste bodies and pure minds. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

Well, this is a somewhat interesting question I think because I know of cannonized saints like Catherine of Siena who did their penances heedless of what parents said. However, I am not advocating one way or another. I’m just bringing it up as a point of consideration.

Age would be a consideration, I think. Again, I’m just commenting, not advising one way or another.
Always a good Rx before bedtime:

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen…*

I sympathize with you completely. Many males struggle with this, it is especially difficult as a teen. Consider the advice you run across here, however… your father has a point about sleeping on the floor. I am not a doctor, but I would be concerned about someone young, whose body is still growing and forming to be sleeping on a hard floor every night. I am not certain this will cause problems, but I am not sure that it won’t.

Praying.

Something I have done in my struggle with impurity is tape up my hands with electrical tape before I go to bed. It can be very troublesome to tape up the other hand once you tape up the first hand, so now i just tape up my right hand (dominant hand for me). If you’re left handed, you could tape up left hand. I don’t know if that would be helpful for you or not.

In addition, I recommend not going to bed until you are so sleepy you practically fall asleep as soon as you lie down (that way you are not sitting on the bed for a long while before becoming unconscious of its uncomfortableness). If you wake up in the night, jump out as soon as possible (unless you can fall back asleep right away) and find something to do unil you get sleepy enough to go back to bed.

If you must do sleep on the floor to save your soul and obeying your father puts your soul at risk do you think he will count disobeying your father as a sin?

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Hi Johnnyt3000,
Is there any way you could sleep on the floor and wake up earlier than your parents? I will pray for you!

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Ave Maria, Gratia plena
Dominus tecum,
Benedicta to in mulieribus,
Et benedictus, fructus, ventris tui Jesus

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei,
Ora pro nobis, pecatoribus nunc,
Et in hora mortis nostrae.

Amen

Oh My Jesus, Forgive us our sins,
Save us from the fires Hell,
And lead all souls to Heaven,
Especially those in most need of they mercy,
Amen

A Prayer for Purity

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I entrust and consecrate myself entirely to you - mind, heart and body. Guard and defend me always from every sin. May my mind be uplifted to heavenly things, may my heart love God more and more, may I avoid every evil occasion. Hold me close to you, so that I may keep watch of my internal and external senses. Preserve me from all impurity, and help me to serve you with undefiled mind, pure heart and chaste body, so that in heaven I may join the blessed company of the saints. Amen.
