Hey, guys I am currently still going through puberty and try my best not to fall into a lustful situations or anything to do with masturbation. Currently I struggle with nocturnal emissions and they can be very annoying to clean up. I am scared to talk to my parents about it because I feel like they would get uncomfortable or I would get uncomfortable. It just sucks because it happens so frequently now for some reason. The cleaning process, being secretive and everything just sucks. It ruins my whole mood and week. Ig you guys have any type of advice on how to talk to my parents or in general help with these dreams please let me know.
Thanks

It’s not a moral issue. It is normal biological function of men’s bodies and nothing to be embarased about. It is not a sin as it is involuntary. If it were not happening, then you would have a problem. It’s a sign your body works as intended.

Actually, not every male has nocturnal emissions. Some never have them, and among those that do, frequency varies wildly.

But yes, they are not abnormal and not sinful.

I am a woman but I believe it is considered pretty standard for a boy going through puberty. I never did a survey though.

About one in five men never have a nocturnal emission during the course of their lives. It is neither unusual, nor abnormal.

“Pretty standard” is a weird way to put it. Pretty common, yes. But “standard”, no, unless you are using the word loosely.

Frankly, I’m addressing one young man who is experiencing a normal biological function for his age, state of development and gender and advising he should not feel embarrassed, worried, or sinful that is happening. We needn’t battle over semantics. It is common…very common. Not something a competent doctor, priest, parent or psychologist would find anything but normal.

That’s not what I objected to. I objected to your assertion that it would be abnormal not to have them.

Also, forums are not one-to-one personal like that. Other readers can see you answer, too. And a young male who does not have nocturnal emissions might read it and get the idea that he is abnormal. Which is why I corrected it.

Excellent. You made your point, already acknowledged. Can we focus on the person who had the question?

I presume you’re a minor. It’s not appropriate for adult strangers online to discuss this topic with a minor. Please just go talk to your dad.
