Does anyone have words of encouragement and advice to cope with this painful and lonely time I’m enduring? I really need prayer. Thank you.

I deal with these things, too. My favorite verse for times like this is Mark 1:1; "And a voice came from the heavens, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” God says this to each and every one of us, son or daughter. You’re in my prayers.

I find comfort in the words of these prayers.

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of your presence, your love and your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust in your protecting love and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for living close to you, we shall see your hand, your purpose, your will through all things.
Amen.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless, and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible,
look kindly upon us, and increase your mercy in us,
that in difficult moments, we might not despair nor become despondent,
but with great confidence, submit ourselves to your holy will,
which is Love and Mercy itself.
Amen.

The opening prayers of the holy rosary…
Sincerest Prayers:
Our Father who art in heaven…
Hail Mary, full of grace… Hail Mary, full of grace… Hail Mary, full of grace…
Glory Be to the Father…
Amen…

“Let Go & Let God”. Be not afraid, he is with you always.

Give it all to Jesus

Are you tired of chasing pretty rainbows?
Are you tired of spinning round and round?
Wrap up all those shattered dreams of your life
And at the feet of Jesus, lay them down.

He never said you only see sunshine,
He never said there would be no rain.
He only promised a heart full of singing
About the very thing that once brought pain.

Give them all, give them all, give them all to Jesus
Shattered dreams, wounded hearts, and broken toys.
Give them all, give them all, give them all to Jesus
And He will turn your sorrows into joy.

Lord, remember your mercies and fill my heart with your grace, for it is not your will that your works should be void and worthless. ~* Imitation of Christ*

That’s one of the quotes on my bathroom mirror. I hope you find it as helpful a prayer as I have.

I know it’s really hard, jamzimm. When I’m feeling really low, I especially need to invoke Mary, my Mother, and the name of Jesus. You’re in my prayers.

Thank you all so much. I really truly appreciate it. Please don’t forget me in your prayers. I need them every day. I’m praying for you too.

Any other favorite prayers/saints to ask for intercession?

When I went through my darkest time, someone advised me to think of it not as loneliness, but as solitude. I don’t know why that change of perspective helped, but it did.

Other things that helped were some of the many tools our beautiful church gives us: time in Adoration at the chapel; novenas (especially Divine Mercy and Mary Untier of Knots).

If you like to read, I recently finished a book that I thought was terrific: Befriending Silence: Discovering the Gifts of Cistercian Spirituality by Carl McColman

It may be that the LORD is calling you into a deeper prayer life. 🙂

I will pray for you, I do understand. I still feel quite alone people-wise but very much closer to God and that’s a priceless treasure.

Dear jamzimm,

I understand. I often struggle with emotional pain and loneliness. I pray for the Holy Spirit to keep me company and I envision in my mind the image of our Blessed Mother sitting in a chair and me sitting on the floor with my head in her lap. I find that image very helpful! :console:
