I’m sure that I should probably have introduced myself somewhere else first, but I found my way here looking for help…so here it is.

My DH and I have been using NFP since before we got married (or well, I was using it before we got married) a little over a year ago. We are currently trying to TTA because he is in school and looking to graduate in Dec. which means a move (most likely) halfway across the country. I only work part-time pretty much only to cover the insurance. My DH is perfectly ok with waiting until we move, get settled, buy a home, etc. However, I am PANICKING because I have endometriosis (after my lap my doc said I have “2 years uncomplicated fertility” - this ends in April) and I had 2 miscarriages before I met DH. I am also struggling because I seem to desire my husband most during my fertile times and I am in pain (from the endo) pretty much from “peak” until my period starts and pretty much uninterested (low libido??) the week before ovulation. Add to this mixture that I know that if we got pregnant right now we could never have a child in our current apartment (campus housing…full of roaches and lead paint!) and I think it unwise to try to move halfway across the country either right before or right after giving birth. I speak with DH about this constantly and he does his best to understand but it still hurts. I feel terrible because I feel like we are always unable to have sex because of me… And it is hard, too, because I am a very physical, touchy-feely kind of girl and I wonder sometimes if the reason why my DH is so ok with us not having sex is because he just doesn’t desire me the way that I desire him? Has anyone else been here? I tried searching the forum, but most of what I found had to do with husbands struggling.

Thanks & God bless!

I wish I had answers for you. Health issues are a mighty struggle, including wrestling with the ever present WHY question.

As far as NFP goes, you are right in the thick of things. It IS hard to live out our sexuality as God intended. It always seems like it would be easier to somehow defeat His plan and go with our instead. Isn’t it the same for all our temptations though?

Keep at it, it gets easier and the benefits become clearer with time. We’ve been at it for 10 years and 3 non-surprise kids. It never gets easy, but marriage never can be. 2 sinners living together makes for inevitable conflict and struggle. But the victories of Grace make it all worthwhile.

God bless.

First off, my prayers are with you.

I have no personal experience with this suggestion, but I’ve heard very good things about NaPro Technology and the Pope Paul VI Institute… maybe consider calling them and asking for their suggestion.

A beautiful, inspiring post.

This is outside the realm of my own experience, but I just wanted to say that a friend of mine recently gave birth to her first child (:)) and then moved from Ohio to California just a couple of weeks later. Both she and the baby are doing fine. So it HAS been done.
