An editorial in the Pomona College newspaper, “The Student Life” demands that the college provide separate bathrooms for transgendered, transsexual, and “gender variant” individuals. The editorial calls the use of only male and female restrooms as a “hetero-normative” bias. Where do these laughable terms come from? With the exception of true hermaphodites, an individual who is transgendered, transsexual or gender variant is a very confused individual who requires therapy for their psychological and emotional issues. We should not be constructing separate bathrooms for these individuals at the other student’s (and parent’s) expense - it’s just plain silly! The editorial is linked below:

What percentage of the population at that college is transgendered/transexual?

Are they demanding seperate washrooms for say, 1% of the student body?

“Where do these laughable terms come from?”. They’re invented by pressure groups, who want to get their way by labelling as bigots anyone who won’t give them what they demand.

Providing a single person toilet, to be used by persons of any gender, is increasingly popular - at least here in Iowa. Such restrooms don’t take up much space and they provide flexibility for when there is a line to use the multi-person toilets.

They are also useful for parents who have a young child of the opposite sex. The two of them can use the restroom without scandalizing the other people in there.

Providing such units isn’t pandering to special interest groups. Its just plain sensible.

Edit:
Why was this thread started in the “Culture of Death” forum?

When is the last time anyone ever said to a student radical: “No!”

But the reason that you stated above was clearly not the reason these demands were being made for - read the article. The culture of death can encompass anything that is not inherently life-giving.

Ditto to that.

The article pampers to sexual deviants who feel opressed by those who choopse to remain normal. To bend to such demands and propositions is to give approval to unacceptable sexual ‘preferences’ that ultimately lead down liberism theology and the culture of death.

How many babies born in spain this year? So they don’t have engouh children to guarantee their future as a nation and will most likely collapse within two generation… who cares… they’re free aren’t they!!! If the death of a nation is the price of freedom I can see why history repeats itself so often.

“Family” restrooms I understand. But this is preposterous. What if the tables were turned, and it was heterosexuals that were demanding separate bathrooms for the homosexuals because they were uncomfortable using the same facilities? These “tolerant” people would be all up in that! You’d be in court faster than you could say ACLU.

Soon, someone will want to get rid of gender based restrooms (although I think it has been tried years ago).:bigyikes: :whacky:

I agree with legeorge! Aren’t we in a backwards world! Did anyone here see the episode of “Life on the rock” that was on not too long ago? they discussed this topic and the hoast was about to laugh at the article. not because it was funny, but because if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry!

It just makes me sick sometimes.

This is old news.
I have already seen transgendered bathrooms in my neck of the woods…walked right by it

I don’t suppose they have many people frequent them. :hmmm: It actually could be a good alternative to those busy female bathrooms.

I think I would be afraid to use one for fear of what I might walk in on!

Now a quote from Friends:

Rachel: I went to the zoo yesterday, and now I’m a koala bear.

If you once had male genitals, had them turned into “female” genitals through surgery, and now live your life as female…you are still male. Neither your genitals nor the fact you may think you are a female trapped in a male’s body changes the reality that you are, always have been, and always will be a male. It is in your genes and with God.

It seems to me that the world is a toilet for these people and their toilet paper is morality.

HE, SHE, IT 🙂

No it wouldnt be that it would be:
He
She
?

I personally don’t really care what they do, but to build more restrooms for a select few amount of people seems unnecesary. Then again I would probably just use the bathrooms because of the lack of traffic. Unless everyone else had the same idea I had, hmmm…

I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t want a man, even if dressed as a woman, in the restroom with me. Sorry, but not only would I be uncomfortable just in general, I’d worry about my safety. Not that I’m scapegoating the “transgendered” because of their orientation but because how could I be sure it wasn’t a “regular” man-predator looking to use the exception to gain license to the women’s restroom?

In any case, I think Alameda County here in the Bay Area eliminated “gender bias” in all things, including restrooms. 😦

Which is one more reason for having a non-gender specific restroom available.

I’m not sure what you mean by that, but if men are able to use the restroom at the same time as me, regardless of dress or appearence, I wouldn’t feel safe. I know I’m not alone.
Do you mean a non-specific bathroom as in all genders using at the same time? Sorry to be thick this am - no coffee yet! 😃

No you see you’re missing the point there, that would be bad, assuming men were using the same bathroom as women. We’re talking about an extra transgender bathroom. You wouldn’t have anything to worry about because you’d be using the regular womens bathroom.
