I am a 14-year old student. I have been assigned to do a research paper to answer the question:
How do Jewish rituals (as practiced at the time of Christ) reflect their belief in one God?
I don’t know much about Jewish rituals at all, so I need to start there. But I have had trouble finding good information. The information I have found is either incomplete, or it is WAAYYY too involved.

Does someone know of a good source for reference material?

Thanks!

Hi Hatheract!

This jewfaq.org/toc.htm is a pretty good, basic introductory site for anyone wishing to learn more about Judaism. It has articles on just about everything. However, I don’t know how much info it’ll have that can specifically answer your question.
How do Jewish rituals (as practiced at the time of Christ) reflect their belief in one God?
Judaism at the time of Jesus had the Temple in Jerusalem & the order of offerings, all of which we temporarily lack :crying: . We had periodic run-ins with the Roman authorities, which built up into the Great Revolt of 65-73 CE (what we say instead of “AD”), because the Romans insisted on setting up images in Jerusalem, even in the Temple, or that we make offerings to the Emperor (we were perfectly willing to make offerings for the Emperor but this didn’t satisfy them), things which went against our beliefs in the One God. This (parts 30-35, scroll down to them) aish.com/literacy/jewishhistory/ is a good historic overview; as is jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/rome.html.

Good luck & feel free to hit me with any questions you might have & I will do my best to help you.

Be well!
