What do fundamentalists mean by substitutionary atonement? Does the Church hold this view? If not, what is the Church’s view?

Well, we can both post articles on Protestant and Catholic’s perspective on the atonement. Your articles are difficult to read because the first paragraph calls Protestants heretics. However, the best unbias source to discuss the person and works of Jesus Christ on behalf of sinners in the Holy Scriptures. 👍 Christ was our (true believers) are substitute according to 2 Cor 5:21.

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
