Sudden crying at the beginning of prayer

Hi all!

I have been praying every day at least twice. Rosary with my family, Divine Mercy chaplet, St Michael’s chaplet etc etc. I have also been reading the Bible more often, praying the Divine Office with my Catholic friends, attending Catholic cell group meetings… So far so good. Like I’d feel a certain peace in my heart. I am enjoying my new prayer life.

But last night when I began to pray, I suddenly started crying when I saw a picture of Our Lady in my mind. The tears just kept flowing for a while. I was a bit shocked because I’ve been quite happy the past few days.

Does anyone have this experience of sudden crying during prayer too? Thanks!

Many years ago a dear friend of mine shared with me and others in a group that she couldn’t hold back tears at Mass during the consecration. She said she felt embarrassed as tears rolled from her eyes.

She then said she asked the Lord to please take that away from her and He did. After that, she said she asked Him to please give it back.

It seems that sometimes the Lord may use us to cry for Him in empathy for others.
