We all agree that Jesus has died once for all sins.

If one says that he is offering all his suffering up to the Lord so that he is [present tense] also suffering with Jesus, what do you say to that?

Do you think Jesus is still suffering for all our sins?

Thanks!

PS: if we discuss without charity, uh huh, then He is surely suffering now. Please keep this in mind. 🙂

Sins usually hurt someone, and if someone you love is hurt then you suffer in sympathy, inevitably.

I guess everybody is agreeing that Jesus is still suffering every single day for our sins?

Jesus never promised us a rose garden… “along with the sunshine, there’s gotta be a litlte rain sometime…” Suffering is not something anyone should seek out (i think?). But when/if it comes your way (& it always does), u can offer it up for the souls in Purgatory &/or to atone for past sins. Those sins have already been forgiven by Christ (hopefully sacramentally), but offering them up like this cleanses us of the STAIN they cause to our souls. I feel very close to God & the souls in P. when i do this… It’s a good thing. & the souls can then pray for us. Its beautiful. You can never have too many friends who love Jesus - & they r not in this sinful world anymore, so i believe their prayers for us are powerful…
I dont know if this answers any questions, but i thought i would respond…

“Do you think Jesus is still suffering for all our sins?”

He chose to suffer as a martyr of the truth. His death, as in the case of everything else He did, said and represented, was instructive, and therein typifies life itself. The truly good must be prepared to die for their goodness. The truth can only survive if we regularly die for it. Yes, God suffers the evil that lingers in the human heart. He suffers and punishes it. Through Christ, he empowers us to fight it.:coffee:

Everything (virtually) that Jesus went through, we must go through (If we don’t endure exactly what he endured, it certainly FEELS like it sometimes).
To attempt to live a good & productive & pure life, we must suffer & sacrifice (as he did), surrender completely as he did… & (unpopular concept:) DIE as he did, meaning die to self…
It is not difficult to do all that, it is impossible… & yet we cannot help but be “forced” to do this because life in this broken world, especially as a Christian, is a cross… (but for all those non-Catholic post readers, that really isn’t as bad as it sounds… (or is it???). I don’t know… But in any case, we are not made for this world.
