Suggestions for a possible move

Hi all! I wanted to let you know that I am considering a move to Mobile, AL to work with the Little Sisters of the Poor as a CNA. I feel this is what God is calling me to do. However, I know very little about the archdiocese, and I was wondering if someone could recommend a great Church, and if they could share the website, if they have one. I’ve done some “googling” on my own, and discovered that St. Therese has a Church dedicated to her (Little Flower Catholic Church), but I want to know if it is a good Church. Also, one of the things I am really searching for is Perpetual Adoration. I am unsure, at this point, if the Little Sisters have Perpetual Adoration available in the residence home chapel, but I’m planning to ask Sr. Julie on Monday when I call her.

This is really scary, but also a great opportunity to spread my wings and learn how to live on my own before becoming a Sister. Thank you for your help! God bless!

One thing that comes to mind is: if you have finally connected with your spiritual director then perhaps he can give you some ideas of sound people to meet in the diocese?
You might also connect the vocations director of that diocese?
Are you close enough to the sisters yet that they can give you some ideas of the local area?
It sounds like events are moving quickly…hopefully you have a spiritual director who can help guide you with all the various decisions to be made.

I forgot I posted this! LOL! I posted the same question on Phatmass, and got responses, which really helped. Some one found out that one of the Churches that I was really interested in, St. Mary’s, is also the parish the Little Sisters of the Poor attend, AND it has Perpetual Adoration! So, I am very happy!

I don’t get to meet with my SD until Thursday at 2pm. I can’t wait!

I think it will be wise to get to know your SD and allow your SD to know you – with this relationship, your SD can really help you greatly. When you start to know the real value of a SD, you probably ask SD for lots of advices.

You should wait and discuss with your SD – you don’t just pack your stuff and move to the state tomorrow, do you?

No! LOL! I am nowhere near packing. Hehe! I must admit that I am looking forward to seeing if they’ll take me. The one thing that has me wishing I wasn’t called to move away is the fact that my SD understands me so well already. He’s been my confessor on an irregular basis, and I really like him.

I am very happy that you feel called to this community. One thing I would strongly encourage you is to follow the counsel of your spiritual director. My concern with your many postings is you seem to be looking into many different communities without any direction. Now that you finally have a spiritual director… I would advise getting to know him a bit and let him help you in part of your discernment process. You may well be called to this particular community but remember part of his job is to help you with your discernment process. Blessings and Good Luck on your journey!

I am not discerning with the Little Sisters to join them. I am positive that I am called to the Carmelite Sisters DCJ in Milwaukee. As far as my spiritual direction, my director and I met today. I told him that I wasn’t sure that I should go to Mobile because I am so confident that I am called to the Carmelites. I don’t want to get sidetracked. He understood. I meet with him again on Feb. 12th.

Don’t worry! I understand your concern. I am trying to focus on my call to the Carmelites now, but I have had problems in the past because I have ADD. I am doing much better, too. God bless you!
